Dedicated funds are available to support conference attendance by European Judaica librarians. Groner-Wikler Scholarship for AJL Conference Attendance
The Groner-Wikler Scholarship, funded by Kar-Ben Publishing in honor of founders Judye Groner and Madeline Wikler, awards a scholarship for AJL conference attendance to an AJL member who demonstrates dedication to Jewish children’s literature and library services. Current membership and full conference registration are required. The next scholarship opportunity will be for the 2024 Conference.
For 2022, we are pleased to offer two combined academic scholarships with conference subventions.
AJL will be providing an academic scholarship in combination with conference subvention to two promising students with a history of participating in Judaic studies or libraries, accepted into or attending an accredited graduate school of library and information science.
Student awardees will receive full conference registration, travel and (shared) room. As such, conference attendance is a component of this award.
The awards are merit-based rather than needs-based.
Both awards also include a service component at the conference to benefit the Association of Jewish Libraries to be determined by the awardees and committee. For example, awardees could volunteer during the conference or write up their experience for the AJL Newsletter.
Information on eligibility and application procedures may be found on the Student Scholarship page.
Application must be submitted by Friday, March 25, 2022.
Applicants will be notified about amounts by Thursday, April 14, 2022.
